Artists for Media Diversity

===============

Five Phase Launch of the Archive for Music Diversity

Phase One begins April 2012: Station Sign Up

Register your station with A4MD.

Station personnel are encouraged to sign up for A4MD's Artist and Radio Newsletter.

Phase Two: May 2012: Artists Contribute Music

Music contributions are submitted to A4MD by the stations who recorded them. Stations inform visiting artists about A4MD prior to their visit, then request the artist's permission to transmit their performance to A4MD.

Station personnel decide if

  • the performance is something they really want to promote to their listeners and supporters
  • to see if the artist is willing to promote the performance to fans
  • to share their collaboration with other stations around the country.

If the answer is Yes to the above, the station transmits the performance to A4MD. A4MD contacts the artist for approval of the recording, and with approval, we request a donation of downloads to support the station along with artist profile information and a photograph to post in A4MD's forthcoming online catalog.

With artist and station approval, A4MD will have the audio mastered by Terra Nova Mastering, an Austin, TX company with decades of experience. (For example, Terra Nova masters the Austin City Limits recordings for sale and distribution.)

Once songs are mastered, they are placed in our online catalog, ready for promotion by the stations and the artists.

It's the sales from these live recordings that generate resources for support services to the stations, such as new studio equipment for the stations and more.

Phase Three begins June 2012: Stations Share Songs Across the Nation

Once stations and artists have contributed songs to the Archive for Music Diversity, A4MD distributes the recordings to noncommercial stations who have signed up for our service. Hook Interactive, a Toronto, Canada based company, is providing it's incredible digital music library service as a distribution portal for songs in the Archive for Music Diversity for sharing between the stations.

Phase Four begins June 2012: National Promotion

A4MD will attend the National Federation of Community Broadcasters NFCB National Community Radio Conference in June, 2012. We will present a workshop called “Culture for the Common Good” where we will show conference attendees how to ‘Submit Songs’ to A4MD, ‘Promote Songs’ to their listeners and supporters, and ‘Share Songs’ with other noncommercial stations.

Phase Five: Studio Equipment and more for Stations:

Stations who have successfully implemented the service will reap the rewards of new studio equipment and more. Full Compass has graciously extended a generous discount to A4MD to provide equipment to stations utilizing our service. Stations will determine how best to use the resources generated through the A4MD project.

Their success stories will provide valuable information to other stations and inspire new levels of creativity amongst stations and recording artists. Our listening communities will ultimately reap the benefits unleashed from this creative power of collaboration.
